Most of them would be aware of the popular American TV show called by the name “Angel” which is a spin-off of another very popular television series called Buffy-The vampire slayer. The creator of the character Angel is also Joss Whedon, the man who created Buffy as well. But this series had another story writer to assist Whedon and he was David Greewalt. Both of them tried to bring in a new and refreshing change to the existing vampire story, though they did not find the expected results because Buffy was more accepted by the audience than Angel TV show.
It was October 5, 1999 when this show hit the television screens for the first time. The first season of this series did very well in terms of collection and it did live up to the expectations by grossing around 4.8 million dollars. This stat did confirm that Angel was much better than Buffy as the fourth season of Buffy collected only 4.7 million dollars. Sadly, the succeeding years were not as expected as this show fell way down in terms of popularity. People accepted Buffy more than Angel because Angel had much more intense scenes and a dark atmosphere.
The theme of Angel TV show will not be something strange or new to those who have been following Buffy because both have similar storylines where the hero counters many battles with demonic spirits and evil humans. The main character here works as a private detective agent while he has to cope with his own self. Actually the gypsies had returned the human soul of our hero as a punishment for his sins and violence against his own kin. Thus, there are many scenes in this Angel TV show where the hero fights his own soul which constantly makes him feel guilt and pain.
As explained in the previous passage, the suspense factor is maintained credibly by the directors and every plot in this television series is quite mature than the previous edition i.e. Buffy. Buffy was more childish whereas Angel depicts the adulthood in a better and arrogant manner. The violence in this series is very gruesome and I consider this as the major reason for its downfall. David Boreanaz as the Angel has done a neat job. The other important characters in this series are Doyle, Chordelia Chase and Wesley-Wyndam Price which are donned by Glenn Quinn, Charisma Carpenter and Alexis Denisof respectively.
The entire series of this television show is available in DVD’s and can be purchased from any nearby media store. The DVD set of all the five seasons i.e. 1-5 has 110 episodes in all. But I would suggest you all to watch Angel online free rather than spending your valuable money in buying the entire collection. And if you feel that you need a permanent copy of the Angel TV show then you can very well download it from the internet and write that in a DVD.
